The Simple Art of Facial Steaming

When it comes to self-care, we're extremely fond of classic techniques. Unlike today's quick fixes, they all need the same thing: Time; the purest form of self-care.

But there is one beauty ritual that has been practised for centuries and is the very essence of self-care, and it also happens to be the one that we enjoy the most: Facial Steaming

It is the secret weapon of all glowing complexions. The benefits of face steaming are limitless. It's the most cost-effective beauty regimen on the market, with a plethora of benefits including deep cleansing, treating acne, pumping moisture, and offering instant relaxation.

The tradition of inhaling herbal, organic blends to preserve beauty is not foreign to us at NESARA by Nicky; it stems from the ancient knowledge of herbalists and has been passed down through generations. Our Facial Teas are like a session of botanical therapy for your skin, revealing a whole breakthrough to the world of skincare.

And thanks to our Inary Facial Teas, featuring a blend of hand selected herbs and flowers, it’s now also an easy addition to your skincare routine.

The benefits of steaming in skincare

If you've ever gotten a facial at a spa, you know that when the esthetician wraps the hot, steamy towel around your face, it's one of the perfect and most relaxing feelings you can have. It's like being wrapped in a warm embrace, and it makes your skin feel pampered.

And that feeling is so good because it's just like steaming your face.

Facial steaming is almost a luxurious treatment that has real skin-improving capabilities if done properly, whether at a spa or at home.

Steam has many beneficial effects on the skin~ the biggest organ in the human body, including improving  hydration, widening pores, and increasing the skin's permeability. The skin, in particular, benefits from the increased blood flow that steam provides. This extra blood flow brings more oxygen and nutrients to the skin. Improved blood circulation increases collagen synthesis and has anti-aging effects on the skin.

It makes you feel good. It helps the skin stay healthy and cleans out the pores. For people prone to acne or who naturally have oily skin, it’s great to include steaming into your skincare routine since it helps to unclog pores by diluting extra sebum and washing out the dirt and oil that accumulates inside.

Now in only five simple steps, let’s get to creating our own facial steaming ritual.

STEP 1: GATHER THE ESSENTIALS

Like everything in life, success requires planning. Hence, the first step is gathering the necessary ingredients, and equipment.

  • Inary Facial Tea Kit
  •  A large heatproof bowl
  • Two cups of boiling water
  • A face towel

STEP 2: CLEANSE AND EXFOLIATE

A clean canvas is the perfect foundation for any skincare routine. And this is a must-do when it comes to steaming your face. Use your favourite cleanser to get rid of dirt, oil, impurities and makeup. Then, use a gentle scrub to get rid of dead skin. Doing this will make sure that the steam gets deep into your cells and gives you all the benefits of the herbs and flowers.

STEP 3: PREPARE THE STEAM

Put 2 tablespoons of your preferred tea blend into the heatproof bowl. Pour in 2 cups of boiling hot water to brew. Give it a gentle swirl, then let it steep for a minute or two. This allows the water to gradually cool down as well. Let the water cool for a few more minutes if the vapour is still too hot to handle. Here, patience is the key. You want to avoid skin burns, which will cause more harm than good.

STEP 4: IT’S TIME TO STEAM

Wrap a towel around your head and shoulders to create a tent over the bowl, then lean your face into the steam. Relax and let the steam do the work now that you're here. You'll want to steam for at least 10 minutes, so enjoy it! Relax your mind by meditating, reflecting about your week, expressing appreciation in your mind, or just embracing the silence. Whatever you do, make sure it works for YOU. Just don't stay over the steam for more than 15 minutes.

STEP 5: TREAT YOUR SKIN

After drying off with a fresh towel, follow your usual skincare routine. This part is important because your pores are open and absorption is at its highest. Your products will be able to reach deeper, which will make them work better.  Try this simple skincare routine which includes a toner and a moisturiser, which will help your skin remain healthy and radiant.

And that's it! No matter how old or young you are, everyone wants to feel good in their own skin. Facial steaming is a ritual for the skin, but we think you'll agree that it's also great for the mind and spirit.

Perhaps that's why the term "art" is often used to describe it.
